IMPORTANT: The Canadian Geographic Challenge is currently being updated for the 2014-2015 school year. Registration will open later in the fall. Please come back and check your email for updates. In the meantime, here’s some good news. When registration opens it will be free!

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED
All registered school in Canada are eligible to participate in the Geography Challenge. Home schools are welcome to participate, however they must be registered with CG Education as a home school.

Registration is done on by a school representative on behalf of the entire school. Individual classes cannot register. There is no limit to the number of students or classes within the school that may compete – the more the merrier! The competition kit will enable the school to conduct the Challenge in as many classes as desired.

There are two levels of competition:
Grades 4-6 (English & French)
Grades 7-10 (English & French)

Geography Challenge registration fees:
Level 1 - FREE
Level 2 - FREE
Level 1 & 2 - FREE

LEVEL 1
GRADES 4 TO 6

Level 1 is designed for students in grade 4-6 and meant to open their eyes to the exciting world of geography. It begins in your classroom and ends with naming a school geography champion!

Topics that are covered in the questions for level one include (but are not limited to):

  • Map skills
  • Peoples of the world
  • Canadian parks and landmarks
  • Cities of the world
LEVEL 2
GRADES 7 TO 10

Level 2 challenges students in grades 7-10 to push the limits of their geographical knowledge and offers the opportunity for students to compete within their classroom, school, province/territory, nationally and internationally.


Topics that are covered in the questions for level two include (but are not limited to):

  • Map Skills
  • Economic geography
  • Physical geography

Upon registration, your school will receive access to the downloadable Challenge competition kit with:

  • Easy instructions to run the Challenge
  • Complete set of questions and answers
  • Certificates for the top three winners
  • Certificate of participation for duplication to all students
  • One-year subscription to Canadian Geographic for the school winner

Deadline for registration*:
February 27, 2015.
