How can I register for the Geography Challenge?
In order to register for the Geography Challenge, you must create an online
account at www.geochallenge.ca.
You can do this by going to the website and clicking on “Register Now”. This
account will be your lifeline for the Geography Challenge throughout the entire school year
and for future years as well.
Can I register for the Geography Challenge by phone or by fax?
No. All registrations for the Geography Challenge must be done online.
I already registered for one level, but would like to order the other one as well.
Is it too late?
You can add another kit to your registration at any time by logging into your online account.
Click on the tab for the level that you wish to add to your order and follow the subsequent
steps.
Will I receive my Geography Challenge kit in the mail?
We are no longer mailing kits out to schools. Once you create an online account and register for the Geography Challenge, all of the materials that you will need to run the competition
in your school will be immediately available to you in your account. This not only saves
you time, but also helps the environment.
Kits are available in PDF format. The Adobe Acrobat Reader is required in order to view
PDF files. You can download your free Adobe PDF reader online from Adobe
Can more than one student from my school take the Qualifying Test?
No. The Qualifying Test is to be taken by your ONE school winner. If you have both an English
and French School Geography Challenge winner, then the student who scored the highest in
the School Final Championship is the student who will represent your school and take the
Qualifying Test.
My Level 2 school winner is 16 years old (or will be 16 before August 31, 2012).
Can he/she still take the Qualifying Test?
Unfortunately, all students who take the Qualifying Test must not turn 16 years of age before
August 31, 2012. If this has happened, please allow your second place school winner to take
the test.
What is the prize for my school winner?
New this year, every school winner from Level 1 and Level 2 will receive a one-year subscription
to Canadian Geographic magazine. You can sign your school winner up for their subscription
through your online account. All subscriptions will begin with the June 2012 issue.
How will I know if my school winner has qualified for the National Final?
All teachers will be notified in their online accounts after March 15, 2012.
When is the National Final?
The National Final will take place online on Thursday, April 19, 2012.
